Connect to your cloud PC by Remote Desktop

A ProxyWorld cloud PC is a Windows computer in a data center with its own dedicated IP. This guide shows how to connect to it from any device, how the monthly IP change works and what people run on it.

What you get

Cloud PC A, B and C run Windows 10 Pro on 4 vCPU, with 4 GB and 50 GB SSD, 8 GB and 100 GB SSD, or 4 GB and 150 GB SSD. Each includes one dedicated IP and one free IP change a month. Server PC and Server PC GPU are larger machines with 2x Xeon E5-2620 v4 (16 cores, 32 threads), and the GPU model adds an NVIDIA GT 1030.

Machines can be placed in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan or Singapore. Prices start at $11.19 a month for Cloud PC A, with 5%, 10% and 25% off for 90, 180 and 360 days.

Choose the right machine

Cloud PC B, with 8 GB of memory, is the usual pick for browsers and several desktop tools at once. Cloud PC A is the budget choice for one or two light programs, and Cloud PC C trades memory for 150 GB of SSD when you keep large files or exports on the machine. Server PC suits many parallel browser profiles, data processing and scraping, while Server PC GPU is the one for emulators and games.

Pick the location by the sites you work with, not by where you sit. Remote Desktop only sends the screen to you, so a cloud PC in Germany works well from anywhere, and every site it opens sees a German address.

  • Cloud PC B for 2 machines for 30 days: 2 x $15.66 = $31.32.
  • Cloud PC A for 3 machines for 180 days: 3 x $11.19 x 6 months, minus 10% = $181.27.
  • Server PC for 1 machine for 360 days: $31.33 x 12 months, minus 25% = $281.97.

Find your connection details

After you buy, open the machine in My services. You will see the address of the cloud PC, the user name and the password. Keep these private: anyone with them can open your desktop.

The address is the dedicated IP of the machine, the same one websites will see when you browse from the cloud PC.

Connect from Windows

Windows includes Remote Desktop Connection. Press the Windows key, type Remote Desktop Connection and open it. Enter the address from My services and click Connect. When asked, enter the user name and password. The first time, Windows shows a certificate notice for the new machine; confirm it to continue.

Click Show Options before connecting to adjust the display size, share your clipboard and, under Local Resources, share a local drive so you can copy files to and from the cloud PC.

Connect from macOS

Install the Remote Desktop app for Mac from the App Store. Open it, add a new PC, enter the address and save the user name and password with it. Double click the PC to connect.

In the PC's settings you can choose full screen or a window, the resolution and whether to share the clipboard and folders. Mac keyboard shortcuts are mapped to their Windows equivalents.

Connect from Android or iPhone

Install the Remote Desktop app from your phone's app store, add a PC with the address and login, and tap it to connect. The app offers a touch mode, where you tap and drag like on a phone, and a mouse pointer mode for precise clicks.

A phone connection is ideal for checking on tasks during the day: see that a tool is still running, restart a program or read a dashboard, then disconnect. Programs keep running on the cloud PC after you leave.

Change the IP once a month

Cloud PC A, B and C include one free IP change a month. Request it for the machine in My services when you want a fresh address, for example after finishing a project. After the change, connect with the new address shown in My services.

Open /en/my-ip inside the cloud PC to see its current IP and country at any time.

What people run on cloud PCs

A cloud PC suits any work that needs a computer that stays on. Common uses include the following.

  • Marketing tools and social media schedulers that run 24 hours a day.
  • Store and marketplace dashboards on a dedicated IP.
  • Scrapers and price monitors on Server PC with 16 cores.
  • Android emulators and mobile games on Server PC GPU.
  • Heavier desktop software for people on slower laptops.
  • A rotating or static ProxyWorld plan used from inside the cloud PC through the Windows app.

Good habits and troubleshooting

Change the Windows password after your first sign in, keep Windows updates on and install only the software you need. Use Disconnect or Sign out rather than Shut down when you leave, so the machine stays on and reachable.

  • Cannot connect: check the address in My services, since it changes after an IP change.
  • Login rejected: type the user name exactly as shown, including any prefix.
  • Slow screen: lower the resolution or colour depth in the Remote Desktop settings.

Questions

1. Do I need special software to connect?

No extra purchase is needed. Windows includes Remote Desktop Connection, and the Remote Desktop app is available for macOS, Android and iOS.

3. How often can I change the IP?

Cloud PC A, B and C include one free IP change a month.

4. Which cloud PC is best for emulators?

Server PC GPU, with 2x Xeon E5-2620 v4, 64 GB of memory, a 1 TB SSD and an NVIDIA GT 1030, is built for Android emulators, 3D and mobile games and video.
