Static IP or rotating IP: how to choose

A static IP stays the same every time you connect; a rotating IP changes within a pool. The right choice depends on whether your task needs a consistent identity or a fresh address for each job.

The core difference

A static IP is one dedicated address. It belongs to you for the whole period, and every connection comes from it. Websites, partners and your own systems can recognise it, allow it and trust it over time.

A rotating IP comes from a shared pool. You switch to another address whenever you like, so each task, check or batch of requests can come from a different IP. The pool is shared with other customers on the same plan, which keeps the price per device low.

When a static IP is the right choice

Pick static when consistency matters. Services that watch where logins come from, such as online banking, store dashboards, marketplaces and ad accounts, work best when every sign in uses the same address. A static IP is also the only practical choice for allowlists: databases, admin panels, hosting accounts and partner APIs that accept only addresses you register.

Static is also the choice when you need an address in a set country. All static plans can be placed in any of our 24 countries, from the United States to Japan.

  • Long-term business and store accounts.
  • Admin panels and databases with an IP allowlist.
  • Remote work with company tools that check location.
  • One browser profile per account, each with its own IP.

When a rotating IP is the right choice

Pick rotating when each task should look independent. Checking how ads and listings appear to different visitors, tracking search results without personal history, testing a site as a new visitor and collecting public data at a steady pace all benefit from a new address per job.

Rotating plans are also an easy way to cover many addresses for little money. Rotate Lite gives each device access to 440 IPs in 55 subnets for $6.71 per device a month, and Rotate Max covers 1,320 IPs in 210 subnets with unlimited IP changes for $18.80.

  • Ad, listing and price checks from many addresses.
  • Search result tracking.
  • Public data collection spread across subnets.
  • Quality testing as a first-time visitor.

Prices side by side

Both kinds are priced per unit for 30 days, with 5% off for 90 days, 10% off for 180 days and 25% off for 360 days. Here is the monthly price per unit and the minimum order on each plan.

  • Static IP: $4.02 per IP, minimum 8 ($32.16).
  • Premium ISP Static IP: $6.71 per IP, minimum 5 ($33.55).
  • Static Proxy: $2.68 to $1.34 per IP by volume, minimum 14 ($31.22).
  • 1 Gbps Static Proxy: $111.91 per block of 50 IPs, minimum 1.
  • Rotate Lite: $6.71 per device, minimum 5 ($33.55).
  • Rotate Max: $18.80 per device, minimum 2 ($37.60).
  • ISP Rotate Lite: $17.90 per device, minimum 2 ($35.80).
  • ISP Rotate Pro: $26.85 per device, minimum 2 ($53.70).
  • Rotating Proxy Pool: $11.19 per device, minimum 3 ($33.57).

App or proxy

The second choice is how you connect. App plans (Static IP, Premium ISP Static IP and the four app-based rotating plans) carry a whole device through the Windows, Android, iOS or macOS app. Proxy plans (Static Proxy, 1 Gbps Static Proxy and the Rotating Proxy Pool) work inside a browser, a tool or a script over HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5.

Use the app when a person works on the device and every app should use the IP. Use a proxy when software does the work, or when you want different browser profiles on one PC to use different IPs.

Combining both

Many teams use both. A seller might keep three store accounts on three Static Proxy IPs, one per browser profile, and use a Rotate Max plan for daily price and listing checks. An agency might give each client account a Premium ISP Static IP with a label, and run search tracking through the Rotating Proxy Pool.

Here is a worked example for a small team for 90 days. Static Proxy for 14 IPs: 14 x $2.23 x 3 months, minus 5% = $88.97. Rotate Max for 2 devices: 2 x $18.80 x 3 months, minus 5% = $107.16. Both together cost $196.13 for three months.

A quick decision checklist

Answer these questions in order. The first yes usually decides the plan.

  • Do you need to register the IP on an allowlist? Static.
  • Will the same account sign in every day? Static.
  • Do you need a specific country? Static, or Country IPs for life abroad.
  • Should each check look like a new visitor? Rotating.
  • Will software send many requests to public pages? Rotating Proxy Pool or Static Proxy at volume.

Fair use for both

Whichever you choose, the same fair use rules apply: no bulk email, no bulk account creation, no attacks, no fraud and nothing illegal. On rotating plans these rules protect the pool you share with other customers; on static plans they protect the reputation of an address that is yours alone.

Questions

1. Is a static IP more trusted than a rotating IP?

A static IP builds a history with the services you use, so a site can recognise it over time. A rotating IP is better when you want each visit to stand on its own.

2. Can I switch from rotating to static later?

Yes. Plans are separate purchases, so you can buy a static plan at any time and keep or let the rotating plan end.

3. Which is cheaper per IP?

Static Proxy reaches $1.34 per dedicated IP from 100 IPs. Rotating plans are priced per device, and one device can reach a pool of 220 to 2,200 IPs.

4. Can a rotating IP be set to one country?

Rotating plans are built around pool size and subnets, without a country choice. For a fixed country, use a static plan or a Country IP plan.
